This hybrid role combines the responsibilities of a Business Analyst and a Project Manager, requiring you to expertly navigate both the analysis of business needs and the delivery of projects to meet those needs. You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of various projects throughout the full lifecycle, from initial scoping and business case development through to successful implementation and handover to BAU operations. This includes eliciting and documenting requirements, managing delivery timescales, risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies, budgeting, reporting, communication, and vigilantly monitoring scope creep and RoI. A key aspect of this role will be leveraging business analysis skills, including the potential application of AI tools, to drive insightful solutions and ensure project success.
Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:
- Project managing and delivering various projects throughout the full project lifecycle, employing Agile methodologies
- Defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders
- Developing and maintaining detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets
- Identifying, assessing, and managing project risks and issues through to logical resolution
- Managing project budgets, tracking expenditure, and ensuring projects are delivered within financial constraints
- Facilitating effective communication and engagement with all stakeholders, managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle
- Exercising rigorous change control and guarding against scope creep, while ensuring means of engagement for future opportunities and appropriate capture of such are provided
- Ensuring accuracy in project deliverables to prevent errors and oversights
- Planning and executing smooth handover to BAU operations, ensuring appropriate documentation and training are in place
- Eliciting, documenting, and analysing business requirements using various techniques and tools for data analysis and insight generation
- Ensuring the business case has proper coverage of all appropriate areas of activities, reasons, options, benefits expected, risks, costs, phases, timescales, investment appraisal, and evaluation; ensuring stakeholder agreement and regular review
- Monitoring project RoI post-implementation to assess and report on success
- Promoting team camaraderie, learning, and the sharing of best practices
- Taking initiative and responsibility for driving progress on both analytical and project delivery tasks
- Contributing to process mapping activities
- Demonstrating enthusiasm to support all aspects of the firm’s business
This role is right for you if:
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies, strong understanding of business analysis techniques, and ideally, experience with business analysis with AI tools. Knowledge of IT systems, software development lifecycle, and project management methodologies
- Process mapping experience
- Recognized project management qualification (e.g., PMP, Prince2) or equivalent practical experience
- Proven experience as a business analyst in IT projects, preferably within the legal industry
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to gather and interpret complex data and business requirements
- Experience with business process modelling tools, requirements management tools, and data analysis tools
- Desirable experience within a Business Analysis role scoping and deploying AI tools
- 3+ years of project management and change management experience
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the firm
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and meeting project deadlines
- Certification in business analysis (such as CBAP) or relevant IT frameworks (such as ITIL) would be desirable
