This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior Construction Lawyer with a keen interest in Contentious work to get to join a well regarded team, that consistently features in the Legal 500 and Chambers publications.
Our Construction team has a strong national presence and is made up of 13 fee-earners and is led by James Driver.
Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:
We are looking for a contentious construction lawyer (NQ – 3 PQE) for our national team. This is an opportunity to get involved in high quality, complex, adjudication and litigation (including Protocol) work, together with providing strategic advice and flexible dispute resolution solutions for clients, including through mediation, within a supportive and friendly team. There will also be an opportunity to undertake some non-contentious work should you want to; but that is not a requirement for the role.
Ideally, you will have an interest in providing positive solutions to our clients, which include national developers and contractors, well-known housebuilders and major housing associations in the social housing sector.
Our approach is simple – we understand our clients’ needs and objectives and provide solutions in a commercially focussed and pragmatic way.
We want to invest in your career and help you to become a recognised expert in your own right. So, you will have plenty of one-to-one development and encouragement from the wider national team. We will ensure that you get a good level of client contact and responsibility.
We will also actively encourage you to be involved in business development and will give you opportunities to participate in networking and marketing activities. We are highly sector and client focussed, so understanding and knowing our clients will be part and parcel of your role, together with plenty of direct client contact.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures; and we have strong systems to achieve time and cost efficiencies for clients.
The role is right for you if:
We are looking for someone with talent, ambition and a real interest in construction work.
You may be a newly qualified lawyer or have built up a number of years of experience already and ready to take the next step in your career. Either way, you will have built up enough experience to be able to manage your workload with ‘light touch’ supervision, gained over your experience, ideally in a specialist construction team (or having done a construction training seat).
We value hard working team players, but equally value and promote a positive culture with a strong work-life balance. Yes, there are deadlines to meet, but we do not believe that long hours are healthy or produce great client service. We look for well-rounded teams and individuals, as do our clients.
We look forward to hearing from you and hope that you will be enthusiastic about joining a leading construction team and confident that you can contribute to its success going forwards.
