About the role:
We are seeking a Solicitor/Legal Executive/Associate to join our Private Capital’s designated Tax and Trusts team in a fast-paced role supporting high net worth clients across a broad range of complex matters.
You will be joining a well-established team, with our Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate team ranked Tier 1 in the Legal 500 for the South-West, and will work on a varied and sophisticated caseload involving trusts, tax and wider wealth protection matters.
This role will require you to attend the office at least 2 times a week, however you may be required to come in more if needed.
Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:
Our Tax and Trusts team advises on the administration of trusts and tax planning to protect family wealth. This is a fast-paced practice with an annual cycle of trust tax returns and accounts, alongside strategic advice to trustees, beneficiaries and other high net worth clients on a variety of complex matters.
Your day to day duties will include:
- Manage a varied caseload of trust matters, including administration, compliance, and tax reporting.
- Advise on the establishment, structuring, and ongoing administration of UK trusts.
- Draft trust deeds, letters of wishes, and related legal documentation.
- Provide practical guidance on trust taxation, including income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax.
- Collaborate with in-house Chartered Tax Advisers, accountants, and STEP-qualified colleagues to deliver integrated advice.
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of annual trust accounts and tax returns.
- Support the Lifetime Planning team with trust and tax expertise.
- Advise on trust-related issues arising from Wills and lifetime gifts arrangements.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
The role is right for you if:
You will be an experienced Solicitor, Legal Executive or Trust Advisor ideally with 2-4 years PQE, with a background in private client work and demonstrable experience of complex trust matters. Candidates deemed to be qualified by experience will be considered.
Trust experience and knowledge is essential to this role.
You will have experience of managing your own caseload and working in a busy environment with competing priorities. You will need to demonstrate from experience that you are exceptionally organised, proactive and adaptable, with a flexible ‘can-do’ attitude, and that you have the skills to work closely with various stakeholders and build strong relationships with high net worth clients.
